Art Journaling

Room to Breathe & Art Journaling

Hey gang.

It’s been a while. I didn’t even want to make a thing of it so I’m just saying it now that I’ll be laying kinda low on the blogging front what’ll probably be the rest of the year. I’ll post every now and then but I can’t make any promises regarding frequency.

Thing is, work is really draining these days and we’re just at the beginning of some major projects that’ll continue into next year. I didn’t exaggerate when I wrote that every other night I fall asleep while tucking in my kid at 8 PM. Shoulda called this post ‘Room to Sleep’ instead. ;) So that’s what’s going on.

Another thing that’s been going on lately is something totally new for me: Art journaling.

That last spread is a work in progress. Love that fabric swatch sewn on the left side there.

And here’s a look at the journal from the outside again. I love how the textures and pops of color peek out at me. This project is pure joy.

I never ever thought I’d dig art journaling – until I saw Jeanne’s work and discovered the awesomeness of clean, modern art journaling with lots of black ink and beautiful weirdness, like on the SODAlicious blog. I just adore that whole style. Until recently art journaling seemed so heavy in a lot of ways.

In the spirit of keeping it short and sweet and getting to bed early I’m gonna stop here. ;)

Hope you enjoyed a peek at my art journal.

Until next time!

xo Nina

Love this! that album is awesome, and I’m loving your take on art journaling — I may have to try it out.

      Thanks Kristin <3

I'm still just stealing other people's styles that I love and trying to find my own style. But it's so much fun! It's a freeing way to use my fav supplies and get real inky and messy. (Also nice not to worry about photos or stories for a change, although I love those aspects of everyday scrapbooking). Just a nice change of pace. :)

You should totally get yourself some modeling paste, gesso and a daybook/sodalicious journal. Something with nice, thick pages.

Hope you'll give it a go. I'd love to see what you'd make. :)

Love this style of art journaling. I’ve been doing it for about 4+ years but I’m in need of a change in style.

      Thanks so much. ^_^

4 years, that’s awesome! I love looking back at older pages already. Must be so lovely to have 4 years worth.

By the way, if you haven’t checked out the Sodalicious shop (http://sodalicious.pl/) you must! and see their Instagram feed for inspiration (http://ink361.com/app/users/246548882/photos). It’s so gorgeous.
